Network Services FAQ

When the new Painesville Baptist Church website was launched in February 2008, a wealth of new options became available: e-mail addresses, shared calendars, blogs and distribution lists, just to name a few. If you have questions about any of these services, you've come to the right place! On this page, hopefully, I'll be able to answer any questions you have about our new network services so that we can use these services more effectively.

What's available?

Quite a bit, actually:

Tell me more about e-mail.

E-mail addresses are created as a seperate account, so they won't interfere with your current e-mail address. To log in to your e-mail, simply navigate to mail.painesvillebaptistchurch.org, or set it up to interface with Outlook, Thunderbird, or any other e-mail client you might have. Each e-mail account comes with 6 GB of storage, so its unlikely you'll ever have to delete a message.

Another useful thing is that we can set up something called "nicknames". Nicknames are basically another e-mail address that someone can e-mail to get to you. For example, Pastor Stoney Drain's e-mail address is sdrain@painesvillebaptistchurch.org, but we can also e-mail him at pastor@painesvillebaptistchurch.org and it will go to the same inbox. We can also set up distribution groups; i.e., e-mailing youthgroup@painesvillebaptistchurch.org will send e-mails to both psawczuk@painesvillebaptistchurch.org or ssawczuk@painesvillebaptistchurch.org.

If you would like an account, please e-mail webmaster@painesvillebaptistchurch.org or contact Sue Sawczuk for details.

Tell me more about calendars.

Getting information about when events are supposed to take place has always been tough; not anymore. A calendar comes with a @painesvillebaptistchurch.org e-mail address and you can keep your own calendar (which can be shared on the website or internally within our church). The calendar at the calendar page is actually webmaster's calendar. Calendars can be shared, like webmaster's, which psawczuk, ssawczuk and sdrain have access to among others so that any one of those people can add, remove and edit events on the calendar.

I still have questions. Who should I contact?

You can contact the webmaster at webmaster@painesvillebaptistchurch.org and someone should get back to you shortly.

I heard you did a presentation on this stuff. Can I get the notes?

Sure! Check here and here for my notes.
